2 months with the teddy bear

I can't believe how big she looks compared to the last set of bear pictures.

She's growing up

Last night we decided that since Emily has been sleeping really well at night that it was time for her to sleep in her own room. As we tucked her into bed and left her bedroom it was bitter-sweet. I closed the door behind me and saw both my children's bedroom doors closed, knowing that two little ones were peacefully sleeping, one in each room. It was an amazing feeling, but still I was sad to have the empty bassinet in our room.

Emily has her 2 month well check later this morning so I will update her stats later today and we can see just how much she has grown.

Pictures!

Emily is 7 weeks today! Time is just flying by. She goes for her 2 month well check next week so I will be able to update her weight and height. But for now enjoy some pictures.

Here are the Teddy Bear pictures for 1 month. Every month I will take Teddy Bear pictures until she's 1 year old. Then it'll be 15 mo, 18 mo, then 2 years and every year after just so we can see how much she grows.

And some other fun pictures!

No new pictures...computer issues

First I must apologize that I don't have any new pictures to post, since I know that is why everyone checks the blog. Our computer keeps telling us our start up disk is full so we have to selectively delete files before we can upload the pictures off our camera (Mary if you are reading that is also holding us up from being able to send you any pictures but we are working on fixing the problem so we can get more pics to you asap).

Emily is now just over 6 weeks old. She is such a sweet little baby. She loves to cuddle and be held. She is getting bigger and stronger everyday. She's started to gain control of her head a little and can briefly lift it up during tummy time. She is also sleeping a good solid 6 hours at night (usually midnight until daddy wakes her to feed her between 6-7am before he leaves for work). She's eating about 24oz every day now. She is such a great baby and growing up so fast.

The Pumpkin Patch

Today was our first annual trip to the pumpkin patch. It was a bit chilly so Emily stayed snuggled up next to mommy but we got a few pictures. The first 3 are on the hay ride back from the pumpkin patch. The last one is next to a big cut out that says "How Tall this Fall" so hopefully we will get a picture of her by it every year since this will be an annual event for us. This time next year she should be standing up on her own so it will be much more accurate!

Some Emily Pictures and an update

Emily will be a month old tomorrow. This month has just flown by. She is such a sweet little girl. She's still very much a newborn and doesn't do much, but she loves to cuddle and be held. When she is awake she is very alert. She sleeps great but she likes to have her awake time right when Jon and I want to go to bed for the evening. I don't have many pictures yet (I'm a horrible photographer so these are the only "good" ones), but here are a few new ones. The first 2 pictures with the bear are the first in what I hope will be a series of bear pictures. They were taken when she was about a week and a half old. I plan to take the same picture every month to see how much she grows.

Was it a fluke or am I really going to be an easy baby?

Emily has already slept through the night! She went to bed around 10:30 last night and woke up to eat at 4am, so 5.5 hours, which is technically sleeping through the night. She then woke up again at 7:00 just in time for daddy to feed her before leaving for woke. Of course I was waking up every hour like clock work just to make sure she was still breathing!

Just Like my Big Brother

Was she meant for our family or what???

The Waiting Game

Emily still has not made her appearance at home. I have found out they are waiting for bilirubin lab results. I'm assuming the results came in yesterday and they didn't like them so they had to do it again today. We are on the edge of our seats waiting for the phone to ring telling us to come get our baby girl.

The phone call that changes your life!

Friday, September 5, 2008 started out like a typical day. I was getting ready to host a party at my house: cleaning, planning food. I went to Costco, then to Kroger. As I was leaving the Kroger parking lot, around 1:55pm, my cell phone rang. I didn't recognize the number but decided to answer it anyway. It was Joseph from LDS Family Services. He told me our homestudy was almost done, which was exciting then he said he was calling for another reason too. I thought he wanted our $1,000 homestudy fee which we hadn't paid yet, but he said that he had a baby he'd like us to consider. I was NOT expecting that at all! The baby is a little African-American girl. He knew we had said that we wanted another boy, but on our preference sheet it did say either so he decided to call anyway. I wanted to shout yes right away but I knew that I had to talk to Jon about it first. After I hung up the phone I fought back tears as I asked Nathan if he wanted a sister. He quickly said "dissder" of course not knowing what he was agreeing too. Even though I knew Jon had a class at that moment I just could not wait to call him. He also wanted to say yes immediately but we decided to take some time and he would call me back after school.

After we spoke again I tried to call Joseph back but I kept getting voicemail, ahh the dreaded voicemail. Finally I called the office and they said he was at the hospital meeting with the birth mom. After what seemed like days Joseph called with all kinds of information, but his cell phone battery died! When he did call back we were able to hear all about our sweet little baby girl. We were told that she would most likely be released on Monday. What a long and agonizing weekend for an anxious mom, dad, and big brother! Of course there also weren't enough hours over the weekend for us to do everything that needed to be done (hence I am typing this at 1:51am while Jon is painting the baby's room). We should have our sweet little Emily in less than 11 hours!
